Welcome to a world of ideas

I believe in the power of ideas.

The people I work with each day live in a world of confusion, tossed between ethereal opinions and cold boring facts, following fickle fads and capricious social standards that bestow arbitrary fame to mediocrity.

Somehow IDEAS have been lost. Walk into the average workplace in this country. You’ll hear someone tell a joke, talk about the weather, plan an event, encourage one friend, gossip about another, brag about a favorite team, complain about the thermostat setting in the building, but never actually express an idea.

Some days I would rather talk to an obnoxious person with a ridiculous idea than a friend with a pure heart who has never owned an idea for himself.

Ideas are valuable. They can define character. They can enable charity. They can advance knowledge. They can transform society. Ideas can be developed, revised, adapted, and ultimately owned by anyone.

Unfortunately, experience has taught me that most people would prefer not talk about ideas. They would much rather privately pick ones that sound appealing—without discussion.

Ideas should be tested. An idea is not worth owning unless it is worth sharing. That is why I started this blog. I will be testing my ideas against the minds of all who bother to read these posts. If you wish to read someone’s ramblings about their favorite rock band or their odd boyfriend Larry, you’d best go elsewhere.

Next post (idea) coming soon…
